The Landings Golf and Athletic Club: At A Glance
The Landings is a unique country club and lifestyle community. If you are afraid you will get bored playing one golf course, this is the place to be. In fact, it’s a bit like an adult amusement park when you get inside the gates.
Head to the gym in the morning, play some pickleball with friends, and head out to one of six golf courses for nine holes before dinner at the club. If you have the funds for it, like the mild weather, and enjoy being occupied, the Landings may appeal to you.

Pros and Cons of the Landings Club Savannah
You don’t have to look through the chart of what the Landings club has to offer more than once to find a long list of pros. I’ll add more things that aren’t known unless you look inside the place.
Pros
The pros of the Landings greatly outweigh the cons. As we say with any of these country club reviews, you must ensure that the type of facility fits your needs.
So Much To Do
You cannot get bored at the Landings. In addition to making your own golf, pickleball, bocce, and fitness schedule, there are many social activities. Indeed, never a dull moment.
You Can Get A Tee Time
Even though there are plenty of days when it can get busy (weekday mornings between 9-11), there are many open tee times at the Landings Golf and Athletic Club. The tee time system works well; it’s all on an app, and you can play golf if you want to.
The Neighborhood is Beautiful.
The club is on an island. Here are a few pictures to give you an idea of what the Landings Club looks like. It’s a beautiful place.
Golfers of All Levels
You can be a professional or shoot 115; there will be other golfers you can find to get along with and have fun with on the golf course. The Landings Club is not exclusively a players club.
Family Friendly
Years ago, the Landings was a retirement community. That has changed. Many young kids enjoy the course, riding bikes with friends, playing pickleball after school, etc. Don’t worry; there are not enough kids to disturb your retirement years, just enough to make it friendly when the grandkids visit.
The Pace of Play is Relatively Fast
When the course is busy, expect the pace of play to be around 3:45 to 4. However, when you go out in the afternoons, and the course is quiet, you can play nine holes in an hour without any trouble.
Golf All Year
Winters in Savannah get a little chilly. Landings members break out their push carts and choose to walk. They tee off a little later and enjoy the warmest hours of the day. Summertime golf is warm. You need a lot of water, but you can jump in one of the pools after you play.
The Water
Although it’s not part of the club, the Landings has two marinas inside the gates. If you are one of those golfers who struggle to choose between fishing/boating and golf, you can have it all at the Landings.
They Keep Up With Trends
Anything at the Landings that may look just slightly outdated is probably on the list to be fixed or improved. The recent Marshwood renovation is incredible, and the Palmetto golf course was also recently redone.
Cons
The negatives of the Landings Club are more about your personal preferences than actual issues with the club. If you like a small private club experience where you walk up to the first tee whenever you please, this isn’t it.
It’s A Lot of People
The Landings has quite a few members, more than 1500 golf members. Spread that over the 6 golf courses, and it works pretty well. You just have to know this isn’t a sleepy little club where you will know everyone you see.
One Course is Usually Closed
This one almost made our list of positives. However, it’s worth mentioning that there are very few times that all golf courses are open. Something is usually closed for maintenance or renovation.
Compare this to a course with only one or two courses. It’s a real advantage.
It’s Big
The Landings Club is big. There are more than 4000 homes in the neighborhood. Membership is not mandatory, but you will want it if you live on Skidaway Island.
It Gets More Expensive Every Year
This negative is by no means exclusive to the Landings. Life gets more expensive, running the club gets more expensive, and prices go up. However, each year, the facilities are improved and updated as well.
The bottom line is that if you are considering joining, do it sooner rather than later.
Golf Courses
The six golf courses at the Landings are all championship golf courses. The Deer Creek Course is home to a Korn Ferry Tour event. However, Marshwood and Magnolia also host regional and local qualifiers and amateur championships throughout the year.
Golf course maintenance does a great job. There can be some variation from one course to another when it comes to green speeds. However, the conditions are always good, and the speeds get quite high during member guest times.
The Landings alternates its aeration schedule, so you won’t have to worry about finding a course in good condition; there is always something to play.

Landings Golf and Athletic Club Costs
There are three main membership categories for the Landings Golf and Athletic Club. Golfers aged 40 and younger are eligible for the Associate Golf Membership, which has reduced dues. The younger you are, the less expensive it is.
Full golf membership now has an initiation fee of over $55,000; rates are lower for Athletic (court sports, swimming, restaurants) and Associate Golf.
In addition to dues and initiation fees, Landings Club members are subject to a service fee (it’s not a tipping club), capital assessment, and then, of course, private cart fees if you choose to go that route.
The Landings vs. The Competition
The Landings is located on Skidaway Island, a few miles from downtown Savannah. Outside of the Landings Club, there isn’t all that much on Skidaway. You will find a few assisted living facilities, churches, a Publix, a small library, and a state park.
It’s a lifestyle-type facility, and you must be ready to travel to Skidaway to enjoy the club. Other facilities in the area offer different types of experiences. However, there is nothing quite like the Landings when you consider size and overall attributes of the club.
