I’ve written dozens of reviews featuring the best complete sets for women golfers. I’ll tell you that there are some really great options out there. Sets like the TaylorMade Kalea or the Cobra Ladies AIR X bring a lot to the table. However, I’ve recently tried the STIX golf club and looked at them from a woman’s perspective.

I’ll warn you; these clubs aren’t “geared” towards women players. The bag isn’t pink, the clubheads aren’t white, and you may have to get creative with the shaft and length selection.

But . . .

That’s what I like about the STIX golf clubs for women.

In my complete review, of the 14 club complete set, I’ll show you how I performed with the STIX clubs, where they lack (because they do in some areas), and who would really benefit from having a set of these around.

Are STIX Golf Clubs Good For Women?

If you don’t have time to stick around for all my data, pictures, and videos, I’ll cut right to the chase for you. The STIX golf clubs are a great selection to consider for a woman golfer with average swing speed or high swing speed (not slow swing speed). These sets can be customized for no extra cost- the clubs are long, have forgiveness built in, and I’ll argue that the short game tools are better than most women’s golf complete sets on the market.

Stix Golf Clubs Complete Review (Everything You Need To Know)

In the spirit of full disclosure, I am a woman golfer with a swing speed that fits me into the “stiff” shaft selection from STIX. However, there are two other options regular and active. Most women golfers looking to gain distance will fall into the “active” category for players who drive the ball under 200 yards.

Driver

The driver is an incredibly offset club that produces really straight shots, exactly what a woman golfer would need. You won’t have any adjustability in the clubhead, but there is 10.5 degrees of loft here, plenty for a female player with average swing speed.

With a 460cc clubhead and a nice anti-glare design, you are getting some of the same technology that you would get in the top premium drivers that can cost almost as much as an entire STIX set

Of course, you are probably curious about distance, I hit this driver about 10 to 12 yards less than I do with my regular driver, but my regular driver is not custom fitted to be one inch shorter; the STIX driver is. (At least for me.)

I can’t help but think that if the driver were an inch longer, the distances might be almost the same. Also, the ball speed was about 5mph slower with the STIX than with my Callaway Mavrik.

Bottom Line: This driver holds its own as long as you have a mid range swing speed; the 10.5 degrees of loft is enough and will give you plenty of launch.

Fairway Wood and Hybrid

The set I have has two fairway woods and a hybrid.

I generally don’t like 3 woods, so I don’t carry one in my bag. As soon as I got the STIX set, I tried out the 3 wood to see how it was and to see if my dislike of 3 woods had gotten any better.

The 3-wood and 5-wood are very easy to hit. It took me a few swings to get my timing down, and then after that, the golf balls landed in a small circle down the center. I lost about 10 to 15 yards of distance and nearly 5 mph of ball speed again.

This didn’t surprise me, and it certainly didn’t upset me, considering the price difference between the STIX set and the clubs I own.

Bottom Line: If you want something with great value, your going to find it. Women golfers with slower swing speeds stay away from the 3 wood, it only has 16 degrees of loft and may be harder to launch. The 5 wood and hybrid are great!

Irons

The irons are sleek looking. In fact, if you are tired of women’s golf irons having a bulky or chunky look to them, the STIX is a great solution. The irons still have some offset, but they look really good.

It’s been one of my greatest pet peeves that women’s golf irons must be large and clunky. We have enough knowledge and technology now that this is not the case.

I can’t tell you that the STIX golf irons are created specifically with the woman golfer in mind. However, I can tell you they were made for golfers looking for custom specifications for less, a forgiving clubhead with a low center of gravity, and players that need distance.

Now, female golfers that have never hit a ball in their lives may have a little bit of a learning curve because of the width of the sole being a little narrower. I would wait until you have played the game for a few months and understand what it takes to get a ball in the air.

Wedges

The wedges are my favorite part of the STIX set when you are looking for something for women golfers. In fact, if you don’t have a great set of wedges right now in your game, look to purchase just the STIX wedges, and you will benefit greatly.

With these wedges, you get a clean blade-style look, just enough spin and control, and the perfect loft gapping.

I found the wedges to be just a little lightweight to replace my current set of wedges in the bag (I like a steel shaft). However, I would have easily put them in based on the feel. Also, I love the black finish on wedges. Although I know it will wear a bit on the face, I still like it.

Putter

The STIX putter gives you stability, consistency, and a clean look. Putters are personal, you either love them or you don’t.

I like this one, and the large grip is something I’m not used to. My current Scotty Cameron has a traditional pistol putter grip. The larger grip does help with stability on those shorter putts.

Overall, the STIX set’s short-game tools are better than most women’s golf sets on the market. I can’t stand when a women’s “Complete” (notice the quotes) set comes with a pitching wedge only.

One wedge in a set is a longggg way from a “complete” set. Always remember to consider short game tools in a woman’s set.

Golf Bag

The STIX golf bag is a gray stand bag. It has great pockets, is sturdy, holds all of the clubs quite well, and the color keeps it from getting dirty. Although I didn’t switch this with my current bag, I love having this extra bag around for family and friends when they visit.

This is truly a custom complete set ready to go whenever it’s needed.

Pros and Cons of STIX Golf Clubs (From A Woman’s Perspective)

After testing the pros and cons of the STIX golf clubs from a woman’s perspective, here are the pros and cons that I have come up with:

Pros

  • Very affordable golf clubs for the quality
  • The ability to customize the set helps them stand out among almost all other options
  • Distance is strong throughout the set
  • Short-game tools are better than most (plenty of spin, control, and forgiveness)
  • The golf bag is high quality and will last
  • Cleaner-looking club heads than other complete sets for women
  • High launch throughout the set
  • Great set makeup with woods, hybrids, and wedges

Cons

  • Not specifically built for women
  • Very slow swing speed beginners may struggle with launch in the irons
  • Long irons are a bit difficult to hit if you don’t have a little bit of speed in your game
  • The feel coming off the face is not quite as impressive as a premium club (again, we know as golfers that we get what we pay for at times)

Who Would I Recommend The STIX Golf Clubs To?

After playing several rounds with these clubs, I have some strong opinions about who should purchase the STIX golf club sets. I’ll do a complete review for each player when I can spend some time away from the golf course!

  • Intermediate women golfers with average swing speeds
  • Intermediate women golfers with high swing speeds
  • Occasional woman golfers looking for affordability and performance
  • Male golfers that need custom fitting throughout a set
  • Teenagers looking for that in between kid and adult set

Lastly, the STIX golf clubs make the perfect set of travel clubs or second set for traveling to your vacation home. In fact, this is one of my favorite reasons to buy STIX golf clubs; they are for occasional use or recreational golfers. In addition, the ability to get custom fitting across the entire set is a tremendous and often overlooked benefit.

Tips For Women Golfers Purchasing STIX Golf Clubs

Here are a few tips that I think could be helpful to ensure that you end up with the proper golf clubs from STIX.

  • Have an idea of what your swing speed is and how far you hit your driver currently. If it’s just under 200 yards or anywhere from 175 to 200, the Active shaft is the best selection.
  • Carefully choose your length. It’s hard to get a custom set of golf clubs in this price range, so take advantage of the ability to get the clubs custom to your height.
  • The grips on STIX clubs are not customizable. I do have really small hands, and the grip felt thinner than standard.
  • Remember, you don’t have to buy the whole set. As I suggested; sometimes, just the STIX wedges are a great option to consider.

Bottom Line: Are The STIX Golf Clubs Worth It For Women?

I’ve been playing golf for 30 years, and I’ve been a golf product review writer for more than 5. I have a good handle on women’s options as far as full sets go. If you are in the market for a complete set of golf clubs, the STIX should be on your list.

In addition, take a look at the wedges or the wedge set if you currently have a ladies set that features just a pitching wedge. I can confidently tell you you are losing shots around the green by only having a pitching wedge.

Let me know your questions about the STIX golf clubs; I’m happy to answer them for you.
