Range of Models and Features

When taking a close look at EZ-Go and Club Cars’ top models, they have subtle but important differences. Here are the differences between the Club Car Onward and the EZ-Go Express.

Club Car Onward

If you get the chance to drive around in a golf cart community, you’re likely to see a significant number of Onwards. The Onwards are ideal for cruising community golf cart paths or playing a round of golf.

Recently, my father-in-law purchased a new 4-seater Club Car Onward fitted with all of the bells and whistles. Interestingly, he opted for the lead-acid batteries compared to the Lithium-Ion batteries.

Here are the key Club Car Onward features

  • Highly durable frame constructed of aircraft-quality aluminum
  • Comes standard with LED lighting to maximize visibility
  • Branded Club Car center caps that are appealing to the eye
  • Concealed storage compartment that doubles as a cooler
  • Sturdy one-piece roof to protect passengers from sun and rain
  • Highly customizable to add additional features
  • Available in 2, 4, and 6-seat arrangements

EZ-Go Express

The EZ-Go Express is a stylish cart that is great for golfers and families alike. If you’re in the market for a new or used cart, learn what makes The EZ-Go Express unique.

Unique Selling Points

Without question, both Club Car and EZ-Go offer unique selling points. Here are the selling points to attract a potential buyer to either EZ-Go or Club Car.

Despite the EZ-Go lacking in visual aesthetics compared to the Club Car, they come standard with Lithium Ion batteries if you’re in search of an electric cart. Additionally, they perform well on both flat land in addition to hilly terrain.

Club Car is, without question, designed with luxury in mind. When comparing an EZ-Go vs Club Car, the Club Car is a Mercedes while the EZ-Go is a Toyota. Undoubtedly, you’ll see the difference between the two. Lastly, a Club Car can be decked out with a multitude of unique customizations.

Pricing and Value

When comparing the price and value of an EZ-Go vs a Club Car, the EZ-Go is a more affordable option.

Interestingly, a 4 seater EZ-Go Freedom’s MSRP is higher compared to a 4 seater Club Car Onward. However, don’t let that fool you; the Freedom comes standard with Lithium batteries, while Club Car does not. Essentially, you’re paying for lithium batteries without having the choice.

Here is a comparison of pricing and value between Club Car and EZ-Go

  • Club Car is constructed with higher quality materials compared to EZ-Go
  • EZ-Go is generally cheaper in cost compared to Club Car
  • What is standard on EZ-Go is often considered an extra with Club Car

Overall, the Club Car is a superior golf cart manufacturer compared to EZ-Go. Furthermore, the pricing reflects the fact that EZ-Go is considered a value compared to Club Car. However, understand that there are differences in the quality of the parts and the workmanship. Club Car reigns supreme.

User Testimonials and Customer Feedback

As an owner of both Club Car and EZ-Go, I can tell you without a doubt that Club Car is better. Not only do I notice a difference in the ride, but it has a classier appearance and has been durable.

Knock on wood, I have not had a mechanical issue with my Club Car, whereas I had numerous issues with the EZ-Go. When I need to replace my current cart, I would shop for a Club Car.

User testimonials from EZ-Go and Club Car owners

I bought a used EZ-Go and drove it for a year and a half. I liked it but found that it was going into the shop on a routine basis. Recently, I traded it in for a new Club Car 4-seater Onward. Yes, the cart is a little slow, but it is fast enough. I could not be happier with the quality and look of the new cart. However, I like all the fancy features, but they were at a hefty cost.

Brian P.

As an avid golfer in a gated golf cart community for the last 25 years, I have bought nothing but EZ-Go. I didn’t need to ever consider Club Car because I have had little to no issue with the 3 carts that I have owned. My EZ-Go is fast, and it came standard with the features I wanted. Also, Club Cars are expensive, and I can’t say I see a difference between my cart and my friend’s Club Cars.

Negatives and Drawbacks

Here is a breakdown of the negatives and drawbacks of both EZ-Go golf carts and Club Car golf carts.

Club Car Negatives And Drawbacks

  • Expect to pay top dollar for a Club Car, especially with premium features
  • Overall, they are highly durable, but not all handle well in rough terrain

EZ-Go Negatives And Drawbacks

  • EZ-Go carts are not constructed with the as high-quality materials compared to Club Car
  • Don’t expect the same high-end look with an EZ-Go as opposed to a Club Car

Frequently Asked Questions

How long will a Club Car last?

On average, a Club Car golf cart will last between 8 and 10 years. However, they will last much longer, even past 20 years, if they are properly maintained. Of course, keep in mind that the batteries require placing at an average of every 5 years.

What is the top speed of the EZGO?

Electric golf carts have a wide range of speeds. However, the top speed of an EZGO electric cart is 25 miles per hour. The standard range for most EZGOs is between 15 and 19 miles per hour.

How far can a Club Car golf cart go on a full charge?

A Club Car golf cart will travel between 25 and 35 miles on a single charge. However, the batteries must be fully charged and in good condition to achieve this range.

Should I leave my Club Car golf cart plugged in all the time?

You should not keep your golf cart charger plugged into your golf cart at all times. In the event that there is a lightning strike, the batteries, charger, and cart are at risk of permanent damage.

What is better 36 volt or 48 volt golf cart?

When it comes to comparing a 36-volt golf cart to a 48-volt golf cart, the 48 is better. Not only are 48-volt carts faster, they have a longer battery life on a single charge and are more capable of navigating areas with steep terrain.

A golf cart can be left without charging for up to 3 weeks. In the event that the batteries are not charged within a three-week time span, they can become permanently damaged. For this reason, you’re going to make sure they are charged consistently.

Conclusion: Which One To Buy?

Without a doubt, Club Car and EZ-Go are excellent for country club members and residents of golf cart communities. Overall, Club Car is the more premium cart that can be fitted with a substantial number of upgrades. EZ-Go golf carts come standard with Lithium Ion batteries, which is a nice upgrade included in the base model cost.

I personally prefer Club Car over EZ-Go, but I know plenty of people who are more satisfied with the alternative. No matter if you’re buying a new golf cart or a used golf cart, you can’t go wrong with either option. However, if you’re buying used, be sure to check on maintenance records
