I hate having dirty golf clubs, and the Clean Stick golf club cleaning brush aims to fix that.
It’s hard work to hit a good shot, and when you are trying to get the ball to stop where you want it, those grooves have to be clean. Wedges are probably the most difficult to keep clean, so I always try to feature a wedge when testing golf club cleaning products.
The company owner introduced the Clean Stick club cleaning brush, and I told him I would give it a shot on the course for a few rounds.
Clean Stick Golf Club Cleaning Brush: At A Glance
Waiting until the end of the review seems a little pointless, the bottom line here, the Clean Stick works precisely as advertised. I think a few improvements could be made, but the combination of water and the bristles made for really clean clubs.
Overall I’m not sure how long the brush will last, but I was happy with the material as it did not damage or scratch the club in any way. My favorite part, however, is the magnetic clip which I’ll explain more about below.
Soft Bristle Brush
The brush on the Clean Stick is not all that large, but the bristle design allows you to get into the club’s grooves.
My sand wedge had a bit of dirt that even a tee could not get out, and the Clean Stick removed it with ease. I’m particular about the brushes I will use on my gear, and I wouldn’t think twice about the Clean Stick and its ability to keep my club in great shape.
Refillable Water Container
I think the combination of the water and the bristle design allows the dirt to come off so quickly.
The first time I used the Clean Stick, it ran out of water really quickly. I kept pumping the button to ensure plenty of water came out as I was using it. However, this is not at all necessary. In fact, one pump is all you really need to clean a club or even two.
There is a good amount of rubber around the seal, so even though this club cleaning brush hangs on your bag, it should not leak.
Magnetic Connection
There is a magnetic clip that comes with the Clean Stick, and it’s my favorite part. The unit itself attaches to your golf bag with a carabiner. Then attached to the carabiner, there is a little magnet that allows you to bring the Clean Stick with you as you walk up to the green.
I really liked this option, and if you use something like the Stick It towel, the Clean Stick, and the towel can work together to make the perfect greenside aid. Kind of like having a caddy with you! (For a lot less money.)
Pros and Cons of The Clean Stick Golf Club Cleaning Brush
The Clean Stick is only sold on their website, and it comes in both black and white.

Cons
- Not overly large, takes an extra second to clean the club head
- Keep your towel close by, the combination of water and the brush makes a bit of a mess
Alternatives
There are a lot of golf club cleaning brushes on the market. When I was working with the Clean Stick I really wanted to see what set it apart from others out there.
Caddy Splash Golf Water Brush
The Caddy Splash Golf Water Brush is really very similar to the Clean Stick. It does cost a few dollars more, and the head of the cleaning brush is slightly bigger. One nice thing here is a retractable string, but honestly I would rather have the magnetic piece that allows me to quickly take the entire brush with me up to the green.
Pro Active Sports Groove Tube
If you want something cheap the Groove Tube is a good solution, the major issue here is that you have to take the entire unit off of your golf bag each time you want to use it. With the Caddy Splash and the Clean Stick you can leave it right on the bag.
Groove It Club Cleaning Brush
Groove It is more of a premium model, and you can tell by the look of it that this one is built to last. It does have the magnetic clip, which I like, however, some people say the magnet has failed on them.
With the Clean Stick, I’ve had the brush on my bag for a few weeks. The bag is on my golf cart which travels throughout the neighborhood and the golf course daily, and it’s still hanging on. I think this is a good sign.
Who Should Buy The Clean Stick?
Honestly, any golfer that hits a shot with mud, grass and sand in their grooves is missing out on what could be a great shot. It really doesn’t matter if you are a scratch golfer like myself or 20 handicap like my husband, we have both been using the Clean Stick since we got it.
The Bottom Line: Is The Clean Stick Club Cleaning Brush Worth It?
I’ll admit that it would be convenient if the Clean Stick Golf Club cleaning brush was available on Amazon, but I’m also a big fan of supporting small businesses. This product works, the magnetic clip seems strong, and my clubs have been cleaner since I’ve put it on the bag. Pair this with a great microfiber golf towel and you should be able to create just a bit more spin while out on the course.
